Numerous aunts and uncles, special best friend Jeremiah Johnson, and his son’s mother Melissa Olson. He also loved all his nieces and nephews Travis Castonguay, Jr., Braden Castonguay, Briar Castonguay, Brody Castonguay, Emma Hannu and Gage Klasen. His siblings Travis Castonguay (Bridget), Brandon Castonguay, and Kallie Castonguay. He would spend many hours talking to anybody that wanted to hear about the Christian faith.Ĭhad is survived by his mother Kathy Elton, Grandmother Rosemarie Cassady, children Dylan Castonguay, Cade Castonguay, Aubrianna Castonguay, Kaos “Goober” Castonguay. He had a deep and strong relationship with the Lord and spent many hours reading from his bible. He has been known to do back flips off the tops of houses in his younger years. He spent his adult life doing jobs outdoors in lawn care. He attended the Bemidji Area Schools and was involved in boxing, gymnastics, softball, and was very athletic. If you had the pleasure of being in Chad’s good graces, you never felt like you did not have someone you could count on. He was a protector to his siblings, children, and mother. He could light up a room with his presence and have anyone in the room bursting with laughter. Chad enjoyed the outdoors, and especially the fall season. As a father to three boys and one girl, Chad truly loved his children with all his heart. ![]() There will also be a gathering after at Chad’s Mother’s house which will be a potluck and gathering of friends.Ĭhad will be fondly remembered for his selflessness, for his willingness to give someone the shirt off his own back, his humor, but most of all for his strong love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Malterud and Fern Nielsen Malterud. He is survived by his siblings, Bruce (Janie) Malterud, Paul (Rita) Malterud, Karen (Gary) Flynn, Ellen (Bob) Schneider, Kay (Tom) Rusk, Jane (Tom Conzemius) Miller and Dale (Sandi) Malterud several nieces and nephews and his partner, Stan Gardinich. Norman was so proud of the new Fern Township Hall, he also worked with the Bemidji High School Arch. Norman was a historian for his family and Fern Township (Becida Cemetery). Norman moved to Bemidji in 2005 where he enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening, collecting antiques, his H Farmall tractor, traveling and his cabin in Becida. He taught English-Social Studies in Owatonna then moved to Minneapolis and taught English at Apple Valley, he retired 1996. He graduated Bemidji State College in 1968. He went to grade school at Sunny Hill school in Becida, then Bemidji High School and graduated Class of 1964.
